Bésame Linocut Original

Original piece | 10" x 14" linocut on paper with oil pastel Inspired by Gustav Klimt's "The Kiss" painted between 1907 and 1908, my interpretation of this work focuses on the sharp geometric shapes within the man's orbit contrasting with the circles and flowers within the woman. There's a sense of shapes drifting about the paper, but with a strong pull towards the woman's expression. There is also a tenderness and passion within hands - a desire to hold on and never let go. The touch of color, while light and infrequent, adds layers to the depth of the work. It's a slow and time-intensive process using oil pastels, cotton swabs, and tortillons.
